People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some arrive with a clear understanding of what they want help with, while others simply feel that something in their life is not working as it once did.
Therapy provides a confidential space where you can speak openly about what is happening in your life, explore your thoughts and emotions more deeply, and begin to understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
My aim is to provide a thoughtful, supportive environment where we can explore these experiences together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Many people who contact me have been thinking about therapy for some time before reaching out, and it is completely normal to feel uncertain about where to begin.
I work as an integrative therapist, which means I draw on a range of psychological approaches depending on the needs of each client.
My work is grounded primarily in person‑centred therapy, which places importance on the therapeutic relationship and on creating a space where you feel heard, respected and understood.
Alongside this, I may incorporate skills and ideas from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) where these may be helpful. These approaches can support clients in developing practical ways of managing anxiety, emotional overwhelm and unhelpful thinking patterns.
This flexible approach allows therapy to respond to the individual needs of each person rather than following a single fixed model.
Clients often describe my approach as thoughtful, collaborative and down‑to‑earth. I aim to create a calm environment where you can speak openly without feeling judged or analysed.
Some sessions may involve reflecting on past experiences and understanding how these may still influence your life today. At other times we may focus on practical strategies that can help you manage current challenges.
Therapy is not about being given instructions or solutions. Instead, it is about developing a deeper understanding of yourself and finding ways forward that feel authentic and meaningful.
Clients seek therapy for many different reasons, including:
You do not need to have everything clearly defined before beginning therapy. Many people simply have a sense that something does not feel right and want the opportunity to explore it.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, although this can be discussed depending on your circumstances.
I offer:
• Online therapy – secure video sessions available across the UK
• In‑person sessions – available in South Lanarkshire
Both formats provide a confidential and supportive space for therapeutic work.
Starting therapy can feel like a significant step. The first session offers an opportunity for us to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you might hope to gain from the process
If you feel that therapy may be helpful for you, you are welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial appointment or ask any questions about how
